With Gurtogg and the Reliquary of Souls out of the way, DoD pressed deeper into Black Temple this evening, and for the first time, came face
to face with Mother Shahraz herself. After a brief review of our strategy and only four pulls, Mother Shahraz fell dead at our feet. The progression
team is accomplishing huge feats! Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this kill, and a special gratz to Larada, Varathi, and Dalans:
Our first guild members to receive the coveted Tier 6 shoulders. Only two bosses remain...
Gurtogg Bloodboil is the next notch in the belt of the DoD raid team. We conquered him this evening after only several pulls, once
of which was a heartbreaking 1% wipe. Alas, Gurtogg is no more. All that remain now between us and Illidan the Betrayer are Mother Shahraz
and the Illidari Council. Time is running out for the Demon Hunter...
The Reliquary of Souls was the target of DoD's next triumph. After only several pulls, the raid team managed to overcome the
Essences of Suffering, Desire, and Anger...and the Reliquary fell, lifeless. Not since Princess Huhuran has there been quite a rush
of DPS at the end as, one by one, the raiders succumb to the Essence of Anger. Congratulations to all! Gurtogg Bloodboil should not
be far behind...
Last night, another triumph for the Descendants of Draenor! They returned to Black Temple after a four week hiatus, and cleared
through familiar bosses, only to be up against the dreaded Death Knight Teron Gorefiend. After only several pulls, the raiders managed
to get their ghost shackling and lancing in order, and Teron Gorefiend fell. Congratulations to all! Work now begins on the 2nd tier of
difficulty in Black Temple...with us soon to face Gurtogg Bloodboil, Reliquary of Souls, and beyond.
The DoD guild members took part in a 10-word contest last week, where they had to write a short story, consisting only of 10 words, that
was both WoW-themed and involved prominent figures or events in the history of our guild. The top three were chosen, and here they are:
#1 - Taba
Cunningstunt has joined the guild. Cunningstunt has left the guild.
#2 - Form
Making a swift beeline for Mount Hyjal, Ater discovers Ironforge.
#3 - Skarg
Dalans put his hairy ass on lots of dead people.
The amazing accomplishments of tonight's DoD raid-team won't soon be forgotten! Here are the stats: 1 raid night. 23 pulls. And, the first pull we managed to drop his
health below 50% ended up becoming the guild's first kill of Archimonde the Defiler, which also marked our first full clear of Mount Hyjal. Congratulations
to all of the many raiders who contributed to learning this fight and came prepared to drop the Eredar at the base of Nordrassil. This also marks our first
Tier 6 helms in guild, congratulations to Neps, Corivs, and Ekasra for that honor. At this pace, it won't be long before we arrive at the doorstep...of the betrayer.
DoD continues to lay waste to Black Temple, adding yet another boss to their kill list. This time, it is the Shade of Akama, a very fun but short encounter.
After only two pulls, Akama's soul was freed and the Ashtongue allied with us in our quest to rid the temple of Illidan. We will continue on in our quest to
destroy the Death Knight Teron Gorefiend before returning to the Caverns of Time and venturing back into history to take on Archimonde. Congratulations on another
successful kill, DoD!
Sunday afternoon marked a new kill for the Descendants of Draenor, as our raid team returned to Black Temple and took out the gargantuan infernal
known only as Supremus. This encounter was a lot of fun and fairly straightforward, but required a lot of little adjustments in our thinking in order
to make the boss mechanics work for us. In the end, we discovered all the adjustments we needed to make, and the infernal eventually crumbled into
a pile of lifeless rock. Congratulations, DoD! Onward and upward!
DoD returned to Mount Hyjal Sunday afternoon to continue work on Azgalor. We refined our positioning of the Pit Lord, moving him closer to Thrall,
and this new formation tipped the scale in our favor. Azgalor is now added to the long list of bosses defeated by Descendants of Draenor,
and thus marks the first Tier 6 items to be issued out in guild. Congratulations to our two Warlocks Eacavissi and Duckshirt for scoring the first
two Tier 6 gloves.
With time to spare, DoD made haste for Black Temple, and began our first trash pulls in the dark and twisted reaches of its sewer system. Greeted by Naga
and Elementals at our first few turns, we were unsurprised to see another minion of Lady Vashj awaiting us: High Warlord Naj'entus. However, Vashj was no match
for us...so Naj'entus fell quickly as well. Congratulations again to the raid-team of DoD. This kill marks the first boss death within the halls of Black Temple...and that
much closer to Illidan himself.
High up on the list of bosses we have been neglecting is the reaver that guards the entrance to Black Temple, Doomwalker. DoD decided to put an end
to his reign last night, and after finishing up in The Eye, our raiders flew over to the steps of the temple where the reaver was last seen. We engaged, and in a few
moments, he was apart in pieces at our feet. Congratulations, DoD! Another notch in the belt.
DoD's second night in Mount Hyjal proved very profitable (in more ways than one). After a quick killing of Winterchill, we moved on to Anetheron,
and after only one adjustment-pull, we destroyed the Dreadlord and sent him back to the Twisting Nether. We also managed to score our first two
Nethervoid Cloaks, one of which emptied out the guild leader's DKP. Congratulations!
We then left Jaina Proudmoore and joined Thrall at the Orc outpost, awaiting more undead denizens. After having dealt with gargoyles and frost wyrms, we were face-to-face
with a new boss, Kaz'rogal. We quickly engaged, and burned him as hard and as fast as we could, before the mana bombs could overwhelm the raid. Before we knew it,
he lay dead at our feet on the first pull. An amazing effort, team!
In what will be remembered as one of DoD's finest evenings in raiding history, We started our night by returning to The Eye,
for our 5th night of work on Kael'thas Sunstrider. After only two warmup pulls to get our bearings, we transitioned cleanly into
P4, and burned hard, attemping to outlast the randomness of Kael's mindcontrolling with raw power. Before we knew it, Kael was at
50%, and we were moving into P5. Keeping calm and focused, we swam through the Nether, moved away from flamestrikes, and burned
every Phoenix until at last, there was only Kael...dead. Congratulations to the raiders of DoD, you have risen up against almost
impossible odds!
The night was not yet done; we had one sad panda aboard the 25-man raid who had not yet collected his Vial from Vashj. We reformed,
set out for SSC, and shortly stood face-to-face with the vicious Naga once again. In only one pull, we destroyed Vashj and her coilfang
minions, granting the final raid-member his vial...and passage to Mount Hyjal.
Once we had gathered back at the Caverns of Time, our raid-team plunged into the depths of Mount Hyjal's gateway, and got their first
look at what was in store for the next tier of raiding. After making some last-minute adjustments, we began to take on the countless
waves of ravenous undead. As we cut them apart, we soon found ourselves face to face with the first boss, Rage Winterchill. We didn't
know what to expect, but adapted as best we could. Rage killed a good many of our raid-team on that first pull, but we decided to
keep going as long as we could. The end drew near, we were only two priests, two paladins, two druids, a warrior and a mage...but slowly
we saw his health dip to 3%...then 2....then 1...and, lo: Rage Winterchill fell on the first pull by the Descendants of Draenor.
After a full clear of SSC on Friday, the DoD raiders returned to The Eye, as we begin to lay the groundwork on Kael'thas. First, however,
we had a minor nuisance to cleanup, that being our first kill of High Astromancer Solarian. After only several pulls, she was dead at our feet, without a single casualty in the raid. Chump change! And now, the path is clear. Kael'thas Sunstrider will soon pay the price...
Our raid-team is now focusing its efforts on Kael'thas Sunstrider in The Eye, and we're looking to supplement our raid team with one or two talented Holy Priests. You must:
- Enjoy healing with a passion
- Play competitively
- Be able to take criticism
- Bring your own flasks/consumables
- Be available for our 25-Man nights (Fri: 7-11, Sun: 3-7)
- Play like an expert, and always be looking to improve
If you meet this criteria, submit an application today!
This weekend, which marked the 2 year anniversary of our first kill of Onyxia, the raiding team of Descendants of Draenor made history once again. First, on Friday, we cleared all the bosses in SSC with time to spare, thus giving us a shot at an old friend: Al'ar, the Phoenix God. We hadn't been back in many weeks so none of us were truly prepared for how well we would do. After only one pull, Al'ar was dead at our feet. An amazing accomplishment pulled off after having been away for so long.
But...the story does not end there...
On Sunday, to mark the birthday of our Healing Raid Leader, Breginna, we returned to SSC for our third night of work on Lady Vashj. After working on the Lady for nearly 10 hours across three nights, we finally (after a heartwrenching 1% wipe) pulled out all the punches, and finally dropped the naga in her lair. Serpentshrine Cavern is now officially cleared, and we turn our attention onward and upward to Solarian, and eventually...Kael'thas Sunstrider. Congratulations to every single present-and-past individual of DoD that was able to contribute and make this kill a reality!
Descendants of Draenor is always recruiting new talent, we'll never turn a blind eye to a quality application, and if you are on a different server, and struggling in a half-assed guild, I'd love the opportunity to chat with you on our vent server. Please visit our application forum for more info. I'll accept applications from any classes and specs.
Wow. We must feel like really big men. We went and killed a blind guy. But for a blind guy, he hits hard and with great fury! Nevertheless, we managed
to cull his whirlwinds and both face and destroy our own inner demons in order to defeat the Blood Elf Demon Hunter. After a gutwrenching wipe at the 2 hour mark, the raiders of
DoD decided to give it another round, thanks to the Labor Day weekend. We recleared trash and headed back to Leo's room, and polished up the last remaining parts of the fight. A big thank you
goes out to all who stayed to help make it possible. Now...only Lady Vashj remains...
The mystery is solved! If you placed your bets on Hydross the Unstable as the next boss killed by DoD, you may go and collect your money. Hydross fell Thursday evening, after only a few nights of attempts. Our targets are now fully locked on Al'ar, and we plan to make short work of him in the coming nights. Congratulations to all who attended and helped learn the Hydross encounter!
The Descendants of Draenor continue to excavate the depths of Serpentshrine Cavern, most recently by putting to rest
Fathom-Lord Karathress and his cronies. Congratulations to all who participated in this kill, as well as those nights spent learning the encounter. Our attention now turns to Hydross the Unstable, and the Phoenix God Al'ar. Who will perish first under the hand of DoD?
The killing of Void Reaver must have been a sign, as the raiders of DoD flew back to SSC this week, performed a flawless execution of The Lurker Below, and put the finishing touches on their strategy to fell the enormous watery giant known as Morogrim Tidewalker. He came crashing down late Wednesday evening, adding another notch to the belts of the raiders as they burn through the Serpentshrine content. Congratulations to all!
The Descendants of Draenor took a break from their Morogrim Tidewalker practice and freshened things up with a journey into Tempest Keep's The Eye. While clearing trash and passing through Al'ar's room, we inevitably found ourselves face to face with the mightiest of fel reavers, the Void Reaver. Nevertheless, we made short work of this automaton after only several pulls worth of attempts. Well done, DoD! Hope to see you back in Serpentshrine very soon.
The Descendants of Draenor are proud to announce the release of their first official movie, entitled "Magtheridon's End". This is a short film depicting our achievments in defeating the dreaded Pit Lord in his domain, deep beneath the Blood Furnace within the Hellfire Citadel. Already, Magtheridon's End has been getting great reviews and lots of downloads, so please head over to WarcraftMovies.com now and grab it!
Our first accomplishment in Serpentshrine Cavern has been realized! The DoD raiders are plumbing the depths of Coilfang Reservoir in their attempt to defeat Lady Vashj and her minions and the first step in this task was completed last night with the killing of The Lurker
Below. An entertaining but simple fight, we now turn our attention towards Morogrim Tidewalker. Congratulations, team!
Magtheridon proved to be a real challenge for the Descendants of Draenor. It is a unique fight and one that requires everbody to be absolutely sharp and to bring their A-game. There is even a bit of randomness that can cause an otherwise flawless execution to go astray.
Nevertheless, it was on Sunday that DoD's raiding team returned to Magtheridon's chamber, and, after a heartbreaking wipe at 4%, were able to come back and take down the mighty pit lord. Congratulations to all who participated, and
we'll see you soon in Serpentshrine!
After multiple nights of attempts, strategy, wiping, raid lineup changes, new positioning, buffs, and raw unadulterated skill, the Descendants of Draenor returned to Gruul's Lair Sunday evening, and finally made their first kill of the last and most deadly of all the Gronn in Outland. It was not easy and it came at a steep price; many who helped learn and tweak the fight were unable to attend the first kill due to changes in the class makeup, but their sacrifices will not soon be forgotten. They, too, will soon be back in the Lair making their own kill of the Dragonslayer. For this, our first kill of Gruul, we salute every single member of the Descendants of Draenor, especially those raiders who aren't always able to attend each kill. We look forward to working on Magtheridon with you very soon.
Sunday evening, DoD's raiders returned to Karazhan to continue their work perfecting their strategy on Nightbane, and finally found success. With this exciting encounter finally notched under DoD's belt, we can officially announce the full clear of Karazhan. It was truly an exciting and eventful instance, full of unique flavor, both in the design, architecture, ambience, and of course, in the various encounters and their strange nuances. DoD now turns its attention to Gruul...and beyond...
High King Maulgar has been slaid by the raiders of DoD! This kill officially puts us back on the raiding map for Deathwing, as the 25-man content begins. This was our second night of attempts on the High King, and with a bit of tweaking and adjustment (and a very silly, chaotic finish) we managed to come out successful. Well done to all the raiders involved, and we look forward to seeing a Gruul kill very soon!
